Nothing is more trustworthy than the written word. That’s why we’ve integrated the ability to send and receive text messages into the unit. When a user presses the button, the unit rings and immediately sends a customizable text message to the receiving station. This message can include important information such as the user’s location and specific instructions, with a character limit of 128.
Upon receiving the message at the receiver station or on a smartphone, the operator can send a reply that appears on the area station’s screen for a limited time. The user has three response options: ‘Yes,’ ‘No,’ or ‘Don’t know.’ While this may seem restrictive, asking the right questions allows the operator to gather detailed information about the situation.
It’s also worth noting that significant efforts have been made to make rescue stations accessible to people with visual impairments, including the addition of Braille text. However, people who are deaf or non-verbal have often been overlooked. While they can locate a rescue station as easily as anyone else, they’ve been unable to fully utilize it—until now. The new texting feature provides these individuals with a vital way to communicate with rescue personnel.
